Members of Jelly of the Month Club are rock monsters that hail from a deep musical forest and are: Marshall Goodman (aka Ras MG of Sublime), Dr. Todd Forman (horns and keys for Sublime and Sublime with Rome), Bert Susanka (lead singer for The Ziggens), Michael De La Torre (lead singer and guitarist for the funk rock band Zen Robbi); and Chris Caplan (lead singer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist for his own alternative rock group, Mr. Crumb). We add three more professional Jelly members for our live shows, including Justin Ianelli on bass, Jamie Bullock on keys, and Rob Perez on everything.
Like Bugs Bunny and the Muppet Show before, Jelly of the Month Club follows highbrow musical choices using a multiplicity of genres. The creators of Bugs and the Muppets focused on quality and their genius productions used the same rule of thumb that most adult artists use when creating music -- "if I love it then, it's good enough for others to hear too." Jelly did their best to maintain that ethos for this record.
"Introducing, Jelly of the Month Club" is a wildly entertaining and eclectic mix of rich genres aimed to inspire the creative tastes of children. This debut album is classy, smart, educational, and stimulating children's music. The band challenges developing minds to absorb a diversity of musical instrumentation, melody, and style while digesting taciturn and humorous stories, educational messages, and strong universal values.

"Brand New Friend" (our first single) is an upbeat "feel-good" folk song with hints of swing jazz and knee-slapping bluegrass that echoes a bygone era of American roots music. The song explores the joy of making new friends as told by Mr. Bullfrog, a guitar-strumming vagabond. On his musical adventure he befriends the banjo-plucking Mr. Firefly and the xylophone-rocking Mr. Alligator as they lend their unique voices to the building chorus that celebrates the meaning of camaraderie and friendship. If you listen carefully, you might just hear the soft whistling of the reeds and the cool hum of the Bayou.
Other productions include an Halloween hit "The Macabre Mobile, featuring Elvira"; an endearing holiday number "A Shelfish Elf", featuring Adrian Young from No Doubt on drums; and a 4-song EP entitled "I Dream of Jelly – A Lullaby Collection."
2015 will be a huge year for Jelly of the Month Club as we set our sites on producing our sophomore album, play to wider audiences and continue our focus on service and education. We wish to capitalize on our connections with Elvira and create more music for her endeavors. As official members of the LA County List of Music Performers we will garner more community-sponsored concert events. Dr. Todd is putting his Masters in Education to good use by implementing an 8-unit music education curriculum called "Jelly Time" for pre-K through 3rd grade classrooms. Finally, we will continue to play for family-friendly venues that give families an opportunity to laugh, dance, have fun, and enjoy great music. Please join us!
