Steph Johnson
In the wake of the economic crisis of 2008, aspiring musician Steph Johnson made a brave choice: The singer/guitarist chose to abandon her 12-year career in banking and pursue her dreams of making music full-time. It wasn't the only time the intrepid Johnson would eschew the safe decision. In 2011, Johnson had already released two albums and was clearly on the way up in the soul/R&B musical genre with jazzy undertones. In fact, her second CD won an SDMA for "Best Jazz Record" without actually being a jazz document. Later that year, Johnson didn't just switch horses in mid-stream, she switched streams. A chance encounter with double-bassist Rob Thorsen at the Ocean Beach Music & Arts Festival led to a drastic change in direction for her music and unique songwriting style. Forming a trio with Thorsen and young drum phenom Fernando Gomez the group recorded her 3rd CD “Nature Girl” and headed out on multiple tours of the southwest and west coast as well as numerous festivals and concerts in Mexico. The groups new sound had a decided jazzy influenced textures and featured her guitar playing as well as her soulful velvety vocals.

The Star Bandits are a touring banjo and guitar duet with an energetic and magical sound. We have many originals songs with harmony vocals and instrumental solos. Our music is inspired by the people we meet and the wonders of natures we encounter on the road. We have been on tour the past three years traveling the United States. We play professionally at wine bars and brewery's, and our taste and passion for local food has led us to playing at farmers markets. Originally from Madison,Wisconsin, we packed our instruments bought a sprinter van and started touring the California coast. We are excited to record Our second album and keep the tour van weels turning.

Jefferson has made a name for himself in San Diego, as a community organizer, working with special needs adults, and producing events that redefine the word "event," such as "Jefferson Jay's 24 Hours of Free Music" and his "Operation 365" project, which stands as the most ambitious and extensive, fully executed 365 project (3 videos and blog daily) in the history of the Internet. Jay is also a recurring guest on The Scott and BR Radio show on The Mighty 1090AM, where he sings original humorous songs about local pro sports teams and flexes his large comedic muscles.
